Sunday Horror Film Debut for Jordan Peele’s

Jordan Peele’s highly-anticipated horror-thriller film titled Nope has received its first teaser trailer with a full reveal set for Sunday.

The film is currently slated to arrive in theaters on July 22, 2022. Its theatrical release will pit the film against no direct competition, but it will still be debuting in the same month as two high-profile superhero films including Thor: Love and Thunder and Black Adam.

Nope will be led by Oscar-winner Daniel Kaluuya, who is officially reuniting with Peele following the successful release of 2017’s Get Out. Joining him are Keke Palmer (Hustle), and Oscar nominee Steven Yeun (Minari), who is no stranger to the horror genre after previously starring in The Walking Dead. Further details about the project’s plot and characters are still being kept under wraps, but like Peele’s first two directorial features, it is expected to be a psychological horror-thriller laced with socially conscious themes in regards to race and society.

The film is written and directed by Jordan Peele, who previously earned an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for his directorial feature debut Get Out. Before the upcoming film, he had also directed 2019’s Us starring Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke.

Jordan Peele's Mysterious New Movie

The mysterious project reunites Peele with Oscar-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya, who previously starred in his critically acclaimed horror, Get Out. And while this new teaser gives us our first look at Nope, it also teases a full trailer to come on Super Bowl Sunday.

At the moment, little is known about Nope, with Universal keeping the plot of Peele’s upcoming follow-up firmly under wraps.

But a recent poster reveal did give us a hint of what we might expect, with an ominous gas cloud appearing over a small American town. Unfortunately, there’s little else in the way of details, apart from the snatched glimpse offered by the new teaser. In it, we see three new images depicting the film’s major stars staring into the sky in horror.

But while there may not be much to go on, Nope is still getting fans excited. In fact, it’s one of our most anticipated horrors of 2022.

After all, it follows Peele’s successful directorial debut, Get Out, which earned an impressive $255 at the domestic box office. Peele followed this up with Us, which managed to earn just about the same while also cementing his popularity among horror fans.

Get Out starred Daniel Kaluuya in his breakout role as Chris Washington – a young black photographer who uncovers the shocking family secrets of his white girlfriend. It earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor and won Peele the Oscar for Original Screenplay.

Of course, Peele is noted for the social commentary throughout his works, so I can’t help thinking Nope might have a lot in common with Don’t Look Up – at least, judging from the brief glimpse we’ve seen in the film’s poster and teaser.

But at this point, it’s little more than a hunch. The full trailer will be debut on Super Bowl Sunday, on February 13, 2022.

Jordan Peele’s Nope stars Daniel Kaluuya, Steven Yeun, and Keke Palmer. Jordan Peele both wrote and directed the project which he also produced alongside Ian Cooper. Robert Graf is also on board as executive producer.
