Firefighters Discover Large Honey Oil Extraction Lab

San Bernardino County Firefighters battled a blaze in Lucerne Valley Tuesday night at a building being  used as an illegal honey oil extraction lab, firefighters reported. The fire broke out at 11:48 p.m., March 22, 2022, at a residence in the area of Chickasaw Road and Colby street in Lucerne Valley, which is between Old Woman Springs Road and Rabbit Springs Road.

Firefighters found a fully engulfed 3-bay metal garage that was threatening the main home, and some vegetation, scanner traffic reported.

During the initial search, a gas leak was detected, and multiple propane tanks were located in the fire, which posed a serious threat to firefighters.

Additionally, 8 containers filled with about 200 gallons each of some type of plant food was located on the premises, scanner traffic reported, along with a strong smell of marijuana.

Firefighters requested deputy assistance after they confirmed discovering a large honey oil extraction lab.

The extracted THC from the marijuana is used to produce a product commonly known as honey oil, which is a higher concentrated product than the traditional method of smoking the plant material.

Two large propane tanks were also reported to be off-gassing, prompting a response from the Hazmat Team.

Nearly half an hour after the fire began, firefighters continued to report heavy fire and smoke as the fight continued.

Crews were ordered to stand at least 30 feet away from the burning structure to avoid the immediate hazards.

Edison was also requested to the scene. This is a developing story, and no further information was immediately available.

Britain’s Royal Mint to build plant that will extract gold from electronic waste

Britain’s Royal Mint plans to build a facility that will extract gold from electronic waste, with the plant set to be fully up and running in 2023.

In a statement Monday, the government-owned company which manufactures precious metal products and coins said it would use what it called “patented new chemistry” from a Canada-based firm called Excir to recover gold from the circuit boards of cell phones and laptops.

According to The Royal Mint, the process is able to recover “over 99% of the precious metals contained within electronic waste — selectively targeting the metal in seconds.”

The recovery, it said, takes place at room temperature, as opposed to the high temperatures required for smelters to process e-waste. The plant will be located in South Wales, U.K., where the mint is based, with construction beginning this month.

It said it expected the facility to process as much as 90 metric tons of circuit boards sourced from the U.K. each week. This would produce “hundreds of kilograms” of gold every year, it added.

This week’s statement builds on a previous announcement from Oct. 2021 in which The Royal Mint said it had signed an agreement with Excir to roll out its technology in the U.K. In that release, the Mint said the process could potentially also recover copper, silver and palladium.

The widespread proliferation of technology such as smart phones, tablets and laptops has seen electronic waste become a topic of much debate and discussion in recent years.

In 2019, the world produced around 53.6 million metric tons of e-waste, according to the Global E-waste Monitor 2020 report. The report also said just 17.4% of this waste was “officially documented as properly collected and recycled.”

In addition to this low collection and recycling rate, the report also said e-waste contained harmful substances including mercury, hydrochlorofluorocarbons, chlorofluorocarbons and brominated flame retardants.

As concerns about the environment and sustainability mount, companies like Excir are looking to roll out and monetize techniques focused on the recycling and repurposing of e-waste.

Destiny 2 Lost Sector Guide: Metamorphosis, Sepulcher, Extraction Locations And Tips

Savathun's stronghold is a massive location to explore in Destiny 2, and much like other destinations, there are a few Lost Sectors to discover. In the stronghold of the Witch Queen, you'll be able to do some spelunking in three Lost Sectors, but you might want to hold off until you're strong enough to face the Hive and Scorn threats lurking within them. If you go in too early, you'll be wrecked by cannon fodder and the game advises that you have a power level of at least 1510 before venturing into these areas.

While your map does show where the Lost Sectors are generally, uncovering them can be slightly tricky. They're not too difficult to find if you pay attention to your surroundings, but if you are struggling, we have all three locations listed below for you. As part of the Parasite Exotic grenade launcher quest, you'll need to visit all three Lost Sectors to claim that deadly power weapon.

For more Destiny 2: The Witch Queen guides, you can check out our guides on how to get Osteo Striga, our full rundown of all gear you can earn from the Season of the Risen, our guide to leveling up to 1560 quickly, five things you should do first in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen, how to get the Exotic catalyst for Grand Overture, and where to find faction chests.

Quagmire - Extraction Lost Sector

In the northern section of the Quagmire, keep your eyes open for a Deepsight beacon between the path that leads to the Miasma and a cavern to the right that's occasionally filled with Scorn. You'll get a good view of Savathun's castle from here, so it's not hard to miss.

Activate the beacon with your Deepsight, and you'll notice platforms that are revealed below you. Hop on them, follow the path to the east that they create, and you'll enter a cave that's filled with Scorn.

Once you're past the subterranean area, you'll encounter stiff resistance from Hive forces that are led by a Blistered Ogre and the Lost Sector boss, Hathrek the Glasweard. As part of the Lucent Brood, Hathrek can revive from death so make certain that you crush this Hive Wizard's Ghost before they spring back to life. Take down the Hive and Scorn, and you can claim some new loot from this Lost Sector.

Miasma - Metamorphosis Lost Sector

You won't need to activate your Darkness powers to find the Metamorphosis Lost Sector, but this location is still well hidden. In the Miasma, follow the north path until you reach a rock formation that's crowded with enemies. To your right, you can spot the mark of a Lost Sector that leads you into the Metamorphosis zone. Head down into the caverns, and expect to face a sizable Scorn force inside, made up of Stalkers, Deranged Abominations, and Riders.

Revenant Knights can also be found here, and when they activate a shield that makes them impervious to damage, you'll need to destroy crystals in the cave to make them vulnerable again. The real threat is the Lost Sector boss Dread Tatsrekka, who will also activate shields that can only be disabled by destroying nearby crystals. Keep the pressure focused on this Scorn adversary, and you'll be able to add more gear to your arsenal once this area has been completed.

Florescent Canal - Sepulcher Lost Sector

In the Florescent Canal, head over to the gothic building near the center of her stronghold. Standing by the fountain, look for a spire that leads to a small Hive gang beneath it, and then turn around to spot the Lost Sector symbol. Head inside the structure, drop down and prepare to tangle with Hive troops. This bit of tomb raiding is fairly easy to navigate, and once you're done with the Hive troops and one dangerous Lightbearer Acolyte foe, it's time to face the real boss.

At the end of the chamber you'll find a gigantic Hive Knight, Bar-Zel, Tutelary of Savathun, flanked by troops and ready to rumble. There'll be some tough enemies here, but it'll be worth the ordeal to grab the treasure that Bar-Zel is guarding.
